2010 Annual IGF Finalists

The Independent Games Festival has announced its finalists for this year’s competition. All of the entries are remarkable games and it’s worth revisiting them or playing them for the first time if you’ve yet to experience some. A sizable chunk of the games are free to play, so I don’t want to hear any of your lame excuses.

Some of the games are worth replaying just for how bizarre and funny they are (Enviro-Bear 2000, I’m looking at you). Others are must-plays if you haven’t yet, like Star Guard, which approaches a very old style of gameplay and presents it in a consciously old-fashioned way, yet seems almost inexplicably new. And even though indie gamers are a little spoiled with the sheer number of free games out there, you might also consider setting aside a few bucks for some of the pay games on there, like Rocketbirds or AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (A game so great you have to copy-paste the name every time.) They’re worth it.
